From your first conversation to your wedding Mass, here is what to expect.
You must arrange a Catholic priest to assist with marriage preparation, ceremony planning, and paperwork. If you do not have a priest, contact the parish office — a minimum of 5 months notice is required for parish priests.
Let the parish secretary know if either of you has been previously married, or if either belongs to an Eastern Catholic Church (Melkite, Maronite, Ukrainian) or an Orthodox Christian Church.

Complete the required marriage preparation program with your priest. This includes FOCCUS or similar pre-marriage inventory, and sessions on communication, faith, and family life.
Work with your priest and our Music Director to plan the liturgy, readings, music, and vows. A rehearsal is typically scheduled for the evening before the wedding.

Music is one of the most beautiful elements of a Catholic wedding. Our Music Director will help you select sacred and classical pieces that honour the liturgy and reflect your love story.
All music must be approved by the Music Director to ensure it is appropriate for a Catholic wedding liturgy. Sacred music, hymns, and classical pieces are encouraged.

A minimum of 5 months notice is required if you are requesting a priest from the parish. Popular dates (spring, autumn weekends) often book 12+ months ahead. We recommend securing your date as early as possible.
Yes. If you have your own Catholic priest who will officiate, you may book the church directly. Your priest will need to liaise with the parish regarding paperwork and logistics.
The church fee is $700. The priest's sacramental service fee is $450. For families contributing to the Parish Planned Giving Program, the church fee is reduced to $450. Music fees are separate and arranged with the Music Director.
All music must be approved by the Music Director to ensure it is appropriate for a Catholic wedding liturgy. Sacred music, hymns, and classical pieces are encouraged. Popular songs may be considered if they align with the dignity of the occasion.
Yes, with some guidelines. Photographers and videographers must remain discreet and not move around during key liturgical moments. Flash photography is not permitted during the ceremony. Your priest will discuss these details with you.
No, you do not need to be registered parishioners to marry at St Mary's. However, at least one of you must be a baptised Catholic, and you will need to complete the standard marriage preparation and paperwork.
A Catholic may marry a baptised non-Catholic Christian with a dispensation, or a non-baptised person with a dispensation from disparity of cult. Your priest will guide you through this process during preparation.
For environmental and safety reasons, confetti, rice, and flower petals are not permitted outside the church. Bubbles are a beautiful and welcome alternative.
